Saint Ursula, whose name is derived from the Latin word for 'little she-bear', is revered as a virgin and martyr in the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Anglican Communion. She is believed to have been of royal origin and is recognized on October 21st in the pre-1970 General Roman Calendar and some regional calendars of the ordinary form of the Roman Rite.
